This statement is made by Tradmet Limited on behalf of itself and its subsidiary Tradmet Hong Kong Limited (“Tradmet”), pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) for the financial year ended 31 December 2022. The statement sets out the steps that we have taken to minimise the risk of modern slavery existing in our business or supply chains
Tradmet trades in non-ferrous metals dealing with smelters, producers, consumers and agents. Tradmet has a global reach and contracts with companies situated in many different countries to buy and sell material. Tradmet is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities and its supply chains. We also expect the same high standards from those parties with whom we engage, such as our suppliers and customers.
OUR POLICIES
We operate several internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:
Anti-slavery policy
This policy sets out the organisation’s stance on modern slavery and explains how employees can identify any instances of this and where they can go for help
Recruitment policy
We operate a robust recruitment policy, including conducting eligibility to work in the UK checks for all employees to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will
Whistleblowing policy
We operate a whistleblowing policy so that all employees know that they can raise concerns about how colleagues are being treated, or practices within our business or supply chain, without fear of reprisals
OUR SUPPLIERS
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, Tradmet has in place systems to:
1. Identify and assess potential risk areas in our supply chains
2. Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains
3. Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains
4. Protect whistle blowers
Tradmet conducts due diligence on all suppliers and, where practicable, on site audits which include a review of working conditions.
TRAINING
We regularly conduct training for the appropriate staff so that they understand the signs of modern slavery and what to do if they suspect that it is taking place within our supply chain. During the year all staff were trained using the www.modernslavery.co.uk site.
OUR PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
We will know the effectiveness of the steps that we are taking to ensure that slavery and/or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain if:
- No reports are received from employees, the public, or law enforcement agencies to indicate that modern slavery practices have been identified.
